Pastor John
D. Stead, Sr. has been the pastor at Solid Rock Baptist Church since
September 8, 1985. He was born in Kentucky and received the Lord Jesus
Christ as his personal Saviour as a teenager in 1957.
As a young man, he was
actively involved in his youth group and did enjoy the fellowship of his
pastor. Often, he and his friends would go over to the pastor's house to
play table tennis and other games. After graduating from high school,
Pastor Stead enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was soon married to his wife
Annie.
Pastor Stead and his
wife raised four children while faithfully serving the Lord in various
ministries, such as song leader, youth director, associate pastor, school
administrator, and pastor. In 1978, Pastor Stead graduated from
Pensacola Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies.
With a total of 13 years of experience as an associate pastor, 5 of those
years were at Solid Rock Baptist Church, prior to being the pastor.
Pastor Stead has been serving the Lord
faithfully with his wife. His children are also very involved in the
ministry. Pastor Stead is full of compassion and will not hesitate to tell
a stranger about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Weekly street preaching
is one of the many ways that Pastor Stead gets the Gospel out to the people
of Milton.
Pastor Stead is committed and dedicated
to his members and to the many ministries of the church. Recently, he earned
